Episode 7f--Feminine Health: Pregnancy Trimesters

Dear sisters. Hello. My name is Rabia. Today,  I will talk to you about pregnancy. A normal pregnancy is 40 weeks, which is 9 months. These nine months are divided into three phases: first, second, and third trimesters.

In the first trimester women normally have problems. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dislike of food smells, urinating more often, and mood changes.  Sometimes the woman is happy, and sometimes she is sad.  During these three months, doctors recommend not eating a lot of food at one time but instead eating small amountse several times of a day. This will prevent loading the stomach and will prevent nausea. Getting turmeric tea will help prevent nausea and vomiting early in the morning. Drink a little water several times a day can be helpful.  Eat a little food several times so that there is always food in your stomach.

In the first trimester, doctors use ultrasound methods to check the baby. Mothers and fathers see the heart of their child pounding. This gives them hope and excitement.  The second trimester means the second three months from the third to six months of pregnancy. This is a good time for women because they feel happy and relaxed at this time. Nausea and vomiting decrease.  There is less depression. In addition, their hair will grow more and their nails gets stronger.  Doctors can do different types of tests for the baby at this time including ultrasounds through which doctors make sure that the infant is healthy. Parents can find out about the gender of the baby, too. This is the time that the baby starts moving, too. Approximately at 20 weeks, the baby starts moving, which is good news for the parents. It is a good time for the mother to take some lessons to prepare for the birth. Also, if the mother would like to breastfeed the baby, she can get information about it through getting lessons and studying books. The husband can join his wife to get these lessons.

The third trimester is the period from 6 to 9 months.  Mothers visit the doctor every two weeks and go through different check-ups. Mothers have different problems during this period such as urinating frequently.  Eating fatty food causes problems for the mother.  The mother gets some depression. She is worried about how her delivery would be. As the baby grows up, the mother gets problems. Movements of the bay disturb the mother's sleep. She may have some difficulty breathing. She tires easily and may have difficulty focusing.  All these signs go away once the delivery takes place. With the support of the family and doctors, all these issues will be resolved.
